&nbsp;Following the
release of Blaqbonez' new album titled No Excuses on Friday the 17th of October
2025, the Nigerian X space has gone wild with buzz about one of his tracks —
“ACL” — being a shot directly fired at Odumodublvck; another Nigerian artiste
known for his unique fusion of Afrobeat with drill and grime under a genre of
music which his fans have nicknamed “Afro Violence”.

FANS SPOT “DISS” BARS WITHIN HOURS OF
RELEASE&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 

Shortly after the
album was released at 12 midnight, fans began to interpret lyrical disses from
one of the sixteen tracks on Blaqbonez’s new album as a clap-back and
continuation in the prolonged beef that has brewed between Blaqbonez (Emeka
Akumefule) and Odumodublvck (Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu).

Some of the
lyrics that seemed to ascertain their claim were the opening line of verse two:

off”</a> and

“Dem dey gas am to rap with me, the machine go soon
knock", among others.&nbsp;

According to fan
interpretations circulating on X, “Agriculture” is seen as a metaphorical
reference to artificial boosting of songs without organic streams and hype.
“The machine” was interpreted as Odumodublvck’s brand — also the name of his
latest album released on the 31st of March 2025 (The Machine Is Coming) —
suggesting he will not last, but falter or fail.

The question now
is: Was this track truly Blaqbonez’s way of slickly cancelling Odumodublvck? Or
is it just his characteristic means of hyping himself above other rappers with
no specific target in mind?

Initially, long
before swords were drawn, Blaqbonez and Odumodublvck had nurtured a public
camaraderie. A then-Twitter (now X) post from as far back as March 26th, 2023,
released from Odumodublvck's official account praised Blaqbonez and even
attested to following his path.

Their friendship
and shared respect for each other’s work led to several collaborations:
Blaqbonez featured on Odumodublvck's “Tesla Boy” off his 2023 album Eziokwu,
and Odumodublvck appeared on “Dollarz” from Blaqbonez's album Emeka Must Shine.
They went on with another collaboration in 2024 titled “Technician,” which
Odumodublvck — who seemed more vocal about their friendship — even referred to
as <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/articles/entertainment/music/odumodublvck-v-blaqbonez-a-timeline-of-their-rap-beef-2025062412035218623">“one of the greatest duos in the
history of music”</a>.

It was in October
of 2024 that their beef allegedly came to the spotlight. Fans suspect it began
brewing with the release of a freestyle “Haibo” by Blaqbonez, which was replied
to by Odumodublvck’s own track “Pussy Niggaz”, even without them mentioning
each other's names. It can be concluded that the genesis of their rivalry is a
claim to the top spot as the better artiste and rapper. 

BLAQBONEZ’S BRAND OF ARROGANT
SELF-BELIEF

Blaqbonez is
widely known for <a href="https://guardian.ng/life/on-the-cover/blaqbonez-carrying-the-torch-of-nigerian-rap/">his energetic claims as “Africa's
best rapper”</a>. In
interviews and on social media, he often makes statements about competition
breeding greatness and about not being envious of any artiste, with himself as
his biggest competition. He believes consistency births longevity, and his
range increases his reach both among the posh and on the streets. This
braggadocio is a defining culture in rap.

His song “Who’s
Really Rapping,” featuring A-Q, led to the first public confrontation between
the duo. Before that, Blaqbonez had not dropped any subtle hints at the feud,
but Odumodublvck had on his X feed. After the song dropped, Blaqbonez tweeted
that they take the beef off social media and into the studio — a daring request
for a showdown. Odumodublvck, however, claimed the beef was beyond music and
that he would respond however he decided.

Over the years,
it has become a trend among musicians — rappers especially — to release diss
tracks, bringing personal grievances into the limelight and using them for
clout. For instance, Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s back-and-forth in 2024 produced
the Grammy-winning “Not Like Us,” Kendrick's final kill-shot in a series of
about eight releases between them.

Also, <a href="https://www.billboard.com/lists/eminem-beefs-explained/">Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly's
high-profile rap feud</a>
began after Machine Gun Kelly made triggering comments about Eminem's daughter
in 2012. The conflict escalated with the release of "Rap Devil" by
Machine Gun Kelly, and "Kamikaze" and "Killshot" by Eminem,
with the latter becoming one of the most viewed music videos in 2018.

Apart from diss
tracks, rivalries between musicians have also appeared as subtle song jabs. For
example, Davido's song "FEM" includes the line, "Tell Odogwu say
we like to party just call me…" referencing Burna Boy's song
"Odogwu".

Also,
internationally, <a href="https://www.complex.com/music/a/alex-montrose/the-history-of-nicki-minaj-and-cardi-b-beef">Nicki Minaj and Cardi B</a>—two of the biggest female rappers—
have traded subliminals, fought in public, and trolled each other online.
Recently, they were seen dragging each other's personal lives and music again
on X from September 30th to October 1st.

It’s no surprise
what is suspected — with relatable evidence — to be going on between
Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez. These two rappers represent two sides of Nigerian
hip-hop. While Blaqbonez is often praised for lyrical genius and technicality,
Odumodublvck has honed a unique, commercially infectious style.

Fans themselves
play a major role in celebrity beefs. With bruised egos and competition at the
heart of many rivalries, fanbases fuel controversies into lucrative attention
cycles for the celebrities through bants and comparisons. Ultimately, the
social media algorithms end up getting artistes the visibility and streams they
need, through trends, polls and memes created by passionate and drama-hungry
fans.

Whether “ACL” was a diss track aimed at
Odumodublvck or just one of the standout tracks on No Excuses, Blaqbonez has
succeeded in drawing attention and dominating headlines, which is every
rapper’s dream. Ranking in the Top 10 of the Apple Music Nigeria Top Songs
chart at <a href="https://x.com/blaqbonez">No. 9</a> in less than 48 hours after its release, Blaqbonez’s “ACL” has already
achieved its first victory.

It is being
talked about, and in the world of hip-hop, sometimes that is the real win.
